Athletics Series

The ball refused to stay inside the ballpark leading to the Cubs outscoring the A's 35-9 in the series.  - Game 1 In the first game of the series vs the A's it might'v been the easiest watch as a Cubs fan this season. The Cubs had 21 hits, six doubles, a triple, and four homers. Not only was the hitting fantastic, but the pitching staff controlled the game as well.  I can't get over the hitting performance so I will start there. Kyle Tucker (2), Carson Kelly, Dansby Swanson, Pete Crow-Armstrong, and Seiya Suzuki had doubles. Carson Kelly had a triple. Then four Cubbies hit a long ball; Carson Kelly, Dansby Swanson, Kyle Tucker, and Seiya Suzuki.  Carson Kelly had the first cycle in a Cubs uniform since Mark Grace in 1993, Kelly broke the 32 year drought on March 31, 2025 and cemented ...

Game 3 vs Diamondbacks

Play The Song Follow us!  Twitter: @PlayTheSong_ Instagram: @PlayTheSong_ Games 3 vs Diamondbacks Phoenix, AZ- CUBS WIN, CUBS WIN, CUBS WIN! Amaya leads the charge as the North Siders get their first win on the domestic opening day.  Offensive Player of the Game: Miguel Amaya (2-5, 2 2B, 5 RBI) Defensive Player of the Game: Dansby Swanson Winning Pitcher: Justin Steele - Cubs (1-3, 0-0 NL C) win 10-6 over the Diamondbacks (0-1, 0-0 NL W) and take the first of the four game series.  The Diamondbacks started the game with an early lead as Josh Naylor (AZ) hit in Ketel Marte (AZ) in his first at bat for his new squad. (0-1)   The Cubs had an answer as in the top of the second Ian Happ  hit a two out, two RBI, double to bring in Pete Crow-Armstrong and Matt Shaw. (2-1)  But the two out scoring didn't stop there as Kyle Tucker brought in Happ with a single. (3-1) If you took the over in this game you were happy early, in the bottom of the second Euge...

Games 1 & 2 vs Dodgers in Japan

Play The Song Follow us!  Twitter: @PlayTheSong_ Instagram: @PlayTheSong_ Games 1 & 2 vs Dodgers in Japan What a cool all around experience for baseball. Playing in the Tokyo Series was great for the Cubs. The MLB wanted two premier franchises on display and it lead to an average attendance of 42,000 fans and an early morning for most Cubs fans.  Other than watching the struggles of the Cubs the hardest part was waking for the games. 4:10 am CT/ 5:10 am ET... yikes. I can proudly say I was up and at 'em for both. With that being said the losses hurt even worse. As Cubs fans had to watch a loss before even heading into work!  The first four innings of game one were great from Shota. He went four hitless and had two strikeouts. He was pulled early and Skipper, Craig Counsell is quoted saying "It's 100% about taking of Shota, its not fun to do, but when you're prioritizing a players' health, you don't know what is going to happen moving forward and we want him...

Introduction to Play The Song

March 25, 2025 Play The Song Follow us! Twitter: @PlayTheSong_ Instagram: @PlayTheSong_ Introduction I am a lifelong Cubs fan attempting to take the Cubs media world by storm. This blog is for Cubs fans who want information on a game-by-game basis that will be very bias but informative and fun.  I am currently looking to get into the world of sports information, so my writing style will mock what I have learned throughout my college career working under a Sports Information Director. Due to that I will attempt to do game logs of every game, including stats, scores, game changing scenarios, players of the game, etc. This blog will not just be about games and stats, I am also interested in the stories of the Chicago Cubs. Whether that is what's going on within the team, broadcasts, coaching staff, everything, so feature stories of this ball club will also be involved.  Lastly this page started off as a Twitter/X page, that will be my focus so please give a follow @PlayTheSong_ ....
